DC Primary: What You Need to Know
DC residents, the June 16 primary is right around the corner. And as a local group, we think doing your civic duty is one of the most important ways to show up for your city!
Most races are partisan primaries, meaning you need to be a registered Democrat, Republican, or Statehood Green Party member to vote. Independents can change their party affiliation, but that deadline has passed (May 26). You can still register to vote in person at your polling place on Election Day โ just bring proof of DC residence. (Note: Non-citizens are also eligible to vote in local races.)
For the full breakdown, check out the 51stโs guide. We also encourage you to research the candidates on your own!
