🌱 Climate DC: Feb 2026
So many events this month!
We made it through January, or as I like to call it, the doldrums. Between the snow, the short days, and the general sense that January lasts approximately three years, it’s a relief to be on the other side. Now that we’ve mostly dug ourselves out of the snow, it’s time to get back together.
We’ve got a full slate of events this month, so buckle up and scroll on.
We hoped to convene last week for our DC Climate Week Launch Happy Hour, but the snow had other plans. In the spirit of making sure everyone can participate, we’ve moved the event to Thursday, February 5. Fingers crossed this shift means more of you can join us. We’d love to see you there.
Please update your RSVP if you can no longer make it:
Also, if you already have some event ideas for Climate Week, feel free to review the event DCCW Organizer Guide.
And because February in DC can still be a lot, we’re also planning a small, low-key game night at the Board Room later this month. Bring a favorite game, pull up a chair, and spend an evening with good people and good vibes.
🌍 Climate Headlines
Welp. Earlier this month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order withdrawing the United States from the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, along with dozens of other international organizations working on climate, clean energy, and sustainable development.
For many of us, this news landed somewhere between deeply frustrating and sadly unsurprising.
Community question: What does this shift mean for local DC agencies, nonprofits, advocates, and professionals whose work intersects with federal and international climate efforts? How do we continue to push forward locally and regionally when national signals are moving in the opposite direction?
🥕 What’s In Season Right Now?
A quick reminder that you can still shop at local farmers’ markets despite the weather. Find your local market here.
Here’s what’s in season:
Root vegetables like carrots, beets, and sweet potatoes
Winter squash
Kale, collards, and other hearty greens
Apples
Mushrooms
Cold months are prime time for soups, roasts, and one-pot meals. Get to it.
